Summary/Abstract: In the article the purpose of research is determining strategic options, as solutions of the strategic paradox: competition vs. cooperation. The subject of the research were organizations which were simultaneously competing and cooperating with businesses on the market. Applied research methods have their bases in the dialectical thinking, consisting in finding solutions to strategic paradoxes based on the synthesis of the thesis and antitheses. In the article the paradox of the competition and the cooperation was described in the perspective of strategic thinking. The strategic thinking was also treated as the paradox of dual thinking, that is the standard thinking versus the creative thinking. They pointed at four possible solutions of the paradox. These solutions are assuming the form of normative strategic options, differenting the level of increasing the competition and the cooperation and various level of the linear thinking and the lateral thinking. In the end of the article the optimal conditions of application given option were determined. In the summary implications from research for the theory of the management were presented.
