Summary/Abstract: The participants of inter-organizational networks incorporate various strategies regarding the other participants and the network as the whole. Extensive literature studies have resulted in identifying a research gap in the realm of identifying such strategies. Hence, the aim of the paper is to identify potential strategies used by node organizations towards inter-organizational networks in which they participate. The typology proposed is based on two dimensions: (1) desire to enhance position in the network and to dominate (rapacity dimension) as well as (2) involvement in creating or overtaking value (parasitism dimension). The paper is strictly explorative and its major intention is on one hand to enact a preliminary conceptual framework concerning strategies used by node organizations towards inter-organizational networks in which they function and, on the other hand, to invite for the further discussion in that field.
