Summary/Abstract: During meteotropic situations (cyclonic situations, atmospheric fronts, storms and dry winds, suchas the Foehn) there are subjective symptoms observed in case of healthy people and intensification ofobjective symptoms in case of the majority of sick people. Urban residents are particularly sensitive tosudden weather changes. The main objective of the thesis is to determine the variability in the occurrenceof meteotropic situations in Rzeszów, in the years 2001–2012. The calendar with the circulation types, the database from meteorological station Rzeszów-Jasionka and questionnaire surveys were used in thethesis. The study took into account the characteristic days, such as frosty days (tmax < 0°C), very hot days(tmax > 30°C), heat waves, sultry days, hot nights (tmin ≥ 20°C), days with a daily amplitude of air temperaturegreater than 12°C (tmax–tmin > 12°C), days with more than a 6oC change in air temperature from theprevious day (Δtśr > 6°C), days with insolation deficit and days with high fluctuations of air pressure.Based on the analysis of the meteotropic situations and characteristic days it was found, that themost unfavorable season for meteropathics in Rzeszów is summer, especially July. In summer, the lowpressuresystems are accompanied by cold fronts and storms. During these meteotropic situations thereare large variations in atmospheric pressure and strong winds. Moreover, summer is the season whenmost adverse thermal-moisture situations occur: hot days, heat waves, hot nights and sultry days.In the cool half of the year the most adverse are cyclonic situations, accompanied by days with insolationdeficit, large air pressure and air temperature fluctuations and strong winds.Foehn situations are relatively rare in Rzeszów (9 cases per year on average) occurring mostly inMarch, October and November, hence they are not very problematic. The results of the survey confirm that the most unfavorable weather conditions in Rzeszów occurduring the summer, due to the frequent occurrence of hot days and nights and storms. According to therespondents, the best weather conditions in meteotropic context occur in spring and autumn, thanks tothe optimum air temperature and humidity, and high frequency of sunny days.
