THE RISK ASSESSMENT OF POOR HOUSING CONDITIONS IN POLAND

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem of assessing the situation and housing conditions of Polish households based on various symptoms (diagnostic features) relating to both the size of the apartment and its quality. The poor housing conditions index was calculated for each household in the same way as in the analysis of poverty risk. The mathematical theory of fuzzy sets was used for the construction of this multi-dimensional indicator. Statistical data were taken from the Polish part of the EU-SILC 2013 survey. The estimation of the mentioned indicator for the general and partial risk areas poor housing situation made it possible to explore the diversity of those risks in the population surveyed households. It gives a basis to identify areas of housing shortages, what can be helpful in formulating effective housing policies in Poland.
