Summary/Abstract: Despite a specific law obligation to insure at least 50% of the areas, only about 11% of the farmers insure crops . In order to identify the determinants of the crop insurance level in agriculture paper analysed the impact of variables characterizing the farmer: gender, age, education, declared attitude towards the risks and variables characterizing the farm: region of the country, type of production, economic size, of significant damage in the past. Based on a sample of 590 farms, using logistic regression, it was found that: the economic size, membership to the type of crop production, the location of the region 790 (Wielkopolska, Lower Silesia, Kujawy-Pomerania and Opole) and the existence of previous damage to crops had a positive impact on the probability of crops insurance.
