Summary/Abstract: Andrei Tarkovsky is the one who “invented a new language, true to the natureof film, as it captures life as a reflection, life as a dream,” said Ingmar Bergman.This article discusses the first feature film directed by Tarkovsky – Ivan’s Childhood.This deeply spiritual movie includes the most characteristic features and plots foundin Tarkovsky’s works. According to him, film is a way to reach the truth. For this reason,he attempts to find answers to essential questions: the meaning of life and the conditionof the human spirit.
