Summary/Abstract: “Szlifowanie diamentów” (which means “grinding of diamonds” in Polish) – an innovative program to support talents in the field of mathematics and life sciences” is an example of successful transfer of knowledge and academic methodology to lower levels of education. The program is intended for students with special talents. It presents the possibility of using recent scientific achievements, in accordance with the core curriculum, to deepen students’ knowledge, improve their skills and motivation to work independently. It also gives opportunities to develop social skills. The effects of the program are: the ability to develop interests and skills useful in school, development of creativity and logical thinking, learning new ways of working and courage decision-making, openness in networking, collaboration skills, and increasing of selfconfidence.
