E-competences as a condition of the development of information society

Summary/Abstract: Throughout history the competitiveness decided on the nations’ economic growth and societies’ development. The competitiveness was mainly influenced by the innovative method of benefiting from new scientific discoveries accompanied by new perspectives. The speed and range of adjusting to new circumstances as well as implementing modern solutions, which were taking into consideration new cultural conditions, started to become strategic determinants. Nowadays the situation does not differ. In the situation of a civilization transformation, which concerns the tran-sition from the industrial era to the era of information, there appeared new and pre-viously unknown opportunities, whose usage depended on possessed competences.
