Summary/Abstract: A good incentive scheme should be an effective system from both the organisation’s and employee’s point of view. This effectiveness is even more important in organisations that affect the national economy, which applies in particular to listed companies. The main aim of this study is to present an assessment of board members of the companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in terms of the structure and effectiveness of incentive schemes used by the companies to motivate them. Additionally, the paper aims to confront subjective opinions with an empirical verification of possible relations between the salaries of board members and achievement of the companies’ economic goals. Case study was employed as the basic research method.
