Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the long lasting impact of the 2008–2009 crisis on the real economy in the EU countries. The particular emphasis is put on the labour market, where the adverse effects of the crisis are particularly acute and have not been overcome until 2014. We discuss changes in real wages, the scale of employment and unemployment, risks of the long term unemployment and the particularly difficult situation of young people.
