Summary/Abstract: Polish households, including families with a child or children with disabilities, although not all of them, are active participants in the financial services market. The aim of this article is to present the results of the quantitative research carried out in the first quarter of 2015 for the needs of the project: “Entrepreneurial and consumption behaviour in families caring for children and youth with disabilities related to the use of financial services – their savings, the use of loans and credits and their allocation”. The article analyses the findings of the research conducted by the National Bank of Poland (NBP) in cooperation with the Central Statistical Office (GUS) in 2014 on the financial situation of Polish households, their assets and financial means as well as their liabilities and loans treating them as a background for the issues raised.
