Summary/Abstract: This paper mainly refers to a special type of natural habitat, characterized by landslides, at first sight a little strange relief for the founding of settlements. In northern Transylvania, two Dacian communities (Zalha – Burzuor and Batin – Între Cetăţi) were known to have chosen this type of location for their settlements. At Zalha – Burzuor the dominant mound was fortified. Since that fortification was placed in the past on account of the transportation of the Dej salt towards West, the problem of the land road of the salt from Ocna Dejului in the Late Iron Age was also approached.
