Summary/Abstract: German energy transformation is a part of a process of transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient and green economy. It is a specific benchmark for the economies of other countries. The success of the Energiewende confirms the possibility of full implementation of the objectives of the European Union transition to a low-carbon economy. The strengthening of this process requires the creation of a broad coalition of countries willing also to carry out the energy transition. This study shows the importance of Energiewende as a leading energy transition process. The article is based on literature and statistical data of the German Ministry of the Economy and Energy, Internationale Organisation für Erneuerbare Energie, Frauenhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and Arbeitsgruppe Erneuerbare Energien- Statistik.
