INTERPRETATIVE MODES

Summary/Abstract: This article presents some aspects of the hermeneutical semiotics of the prominent Italian theorist and novelistUmberto Eco. In his fictional and theoretical works, Ecopresents and confronts the challenges of construing meaning from text. In these sense, our paper is focused on several hermeneutical parameters (intentiooperis, intentiolectoris, intentioauctoris, textual economy, internal textual coherence) that Eco proposes as basic criteria forvalid interpretation of literary texts, i.e. as a relevant „limitsof interpretation“ that will prevent from arbitrary, parranoid or incorrect interpretations.
