Summary/Abstract: Sefik Beslagic (1908-1990), the art historian and conservator, is one of the most prominent Bosnian-Herzegovinian scholars and researchers, who contributed mostly to the study of Bosnian medieval monuments, called stećci. At the beginning of his working life, he spent five years in Gracanica, serving as a teacher. During that time, he left the noticeable trace in the cultural and social life of this city. He distinguished himself in the work of the cultural-educational society “Gajret”, the Sokolsko Society, as well as the County’s waqf-mearif commission in Gracanica. He has even recorded an oral folk tradition of Ahmed Pasha Budimlija, one of the most famous vakifs in the history of Gracanica. All of that places him among the personalities who have made a significant contribution to this community and left traces in its cultural history.
