Summary/Abstract: The present approach has as subject the conditions imposed during the communist period to the intellectual environment, produced especially in the academic institution „Stefan Gheorghiu”, also known as the Higher Party School. The present paper is written with the propose to show what were the professionalization stages in journalism and also how the intellectual education of the journalist was formed. We try to design the way in which the „Stefan Gheorghiu” Academy is projected in the collective memory. Moreover, we are using some oral history interviews as a research method. This perspective through which we want to reconstruct the event through life stories leads us to analyze the way in which the ideologies are reconstructed as instruments of opponents, but also to a certain type of the reinvestment of symbolic inventory. In the case of the „Stefan Gheorghiu” Academy we concluded that the place remained as a hyperbolic image of freedom and also a space of debate in the academic field, in contrary to strong censorship that occurred throughout the whole communist society.
