Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt of showing a sacramental nature of marriage, by which God is present and acting in a life of spouses. For this purpose, the article explains first a concept of the grace itself, meaning by that a particular type of a saving entry of God, His self-granting and a presence in a life of these two persons. By entering into their common life, God enters into alliance with them. It means a permanent entry of God into a bond, that is formed by love between a man and a woman. The sacrament of marriage empowers them to a self-sacrificing and a timeless love modeled by charity of Christ and the Church. Their mutual love becomes connected with charity of God, commencing a sacramental way of grace. Marriage is then a participation in charity of Christ, as well as it provides a picture of this love. Therefore, a marital love has a distinct Paschal mark. Based on Christ’s charity, it empowers spouses to offer themselves and towards each other, as a sacrifice of love, that extends in their common life charity of Christ in a history. A marital community represents God’s love to a man, and charity of Christ to the Church. It becomes an exceptional type of a vocation, wherein God – through His presence on the way of permanent sanctifying of spouses, and by bringing their marriage into a supernatural order of the salvation – empowers the married couple to take responsibility for their love and community. Spouses then not only take a marriage vow to each other, but they commit themselves to its lifetime celebration. Because a fruitfulness of God’s presence in their common life (grace) will depend on their common returning life to God, an openess to His loving presence, and their incurred efforts in building a marriage unity. A common way of the married couple’ life, they were invited by God through the sacrament of marriage, becomes a picture of the Triune God, Who is the communion of Persons and a role model of unity.
