Summary/Abstract: The present report quite clearly and, in our opinion, convincingly shows the close ties of national repertoires offantastic fairy tales of the Moldavians and the Gagauz in the south of the Republic of Moldova. Both Moldavian andthe Gagauz folk fairy tales have their own distinct national character, which manifests itself in the images of protagonists, in the narrative language, in the details of everyday life, in the descriptions of the landscape, in the view of social relations. Relationships and parallels in our study are observed at the level of the plot: “Brother saves his brothers and sisters from the serpent” (AT 312), “Iron Wolf» (AT 313H), “Ivan the Bear’s Ear” (AT 650A), “Blinded Giant” (AT 1135; AT 1136), and others, as well as on the lexical level – through the names of the characters, through the use of appropriate terminology and locutions. Of course, the relationships and the parallels also cover many other kinds of verbal folklore of the Moldavians and the Gagauz, which require deep comparative-typological study.
