Summary/Abstract: Since the last decade of the 20th century we have been observing a decrease in social acceptance of businesses which aim at profit maximization without paying attention to its influence on the surrounding environment. At present customers have started to get interest in how companies whose products they buy treat their workers and contractors, what remuneration they pay, whether they participate in unfair corruptive transactions or whether they are harmful to the environment. A company which does not want to accept such new business management has to account for some kind of public pressure, such as protests, which might result in negative image worldwide in today’s era of globalization. KGHM Polska Miedź SA is a modern global corporation, but what is more important, it is a company aware of its influence on shaping the environment. An example of it can be the implementation of CSR strategy (Corporate Social Responsibility) and related to it socially responsible actions taken by KGHM in the light of sustainable development.
