Summary/Abstract: Digital technology which combines the Internet, communication and other media strongly influences contemporary film industry, especially blockbusters. Digital technology also participates in the reshaping of meta-filmic signals such as music, non-diegetic text, fast camera movements and a rapid montage. The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) are the model examples of films of the so-called post-classical age whose making has been shaped by digital technology. The importance of digital technology in the three films is so important that it prevails in their closing credits shaping them as a digital labyrinth, which changes from one film to another. Visual layout of the three closing credits blends computer graphics, webpage design, movie scenes and music video, as well as reflects the inspiration of their respective designers (Gary Herbert for The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy; Stephane Burle for TheBourne Ultimatum) and film directors (Doug Liman for The Bourne Identity; Paul Greengrass for The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum). The interpretation of the three closing credits also depends on the music-image relation. The closing song – “Extreme Ways” by Moby – is used in all three films, but the montage of the closing credits differs. While the lines appearing on the screen shape a fluid digital labyrinth, the viewer follows two different texts: the closing credits on the screen, and the lyrics sung by Moby, which collide. However, with each sequel, the audio-visual design of the closing credits offers different lines of reading Bourne’s extreme ways and Moby’s lyrics.
