Summary/Abstract: This study opens one more page in the history of nineteenth-century Lithuanian music, which is related to the world-famous Polish violinist Karol Józef Lipiński (b. 1790 - d. 1861). The author revises the dates and the repertoire of his concerts held in Vilnius (1822, 1838) and presents the opinions of Vilnius citizens, thus filling the gap in the research on this violinist carried out by Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and German researchers. The facts are revealed in the context of the Lithuanian cultural life of the first half of the 19th century. Although the sources giving evidence of these events are confusing, the author holds the view that they are sufficient to testify the importance of the connections of the outstanding violin virtuoso with Lithuania.
