Summary/Abstract: The article aims at showing that, despite the flow of the centuries, the words of Seneca the Younger, his considerations and reflections are still valid. They raise the questions related to various categories in the ancient ethical concepts, as well as to the positive ideas (love, friendship, truthfulness, and respect for the other) giving a direction to human actions. Seneca, naming himself an educator and teacher of life, used philosophy, particularly ethics, as a repository of good advice and the patterns of behavior. The analysis of his works makes us think that fundamental principles and values which set direction for human life show a substantial stability, and consequently a cultural continuity. Therefore, Seneca's thoughts may be considered a part of a current which was raised at the turn of 19th and 20th century, that is the contemporary perennialism whose rules – similarly to Seneca's ones – are timeless, spaceless, and relate to any culture.
