Summary/Abstract: In the archaeological excavations from 1994 in Museum Square Cluj-Napoca were found interesting artifacts of the Roman period, among which was a terracotta statue of the goddess Venus. According to the cultural layer where it was found, the statue can be dated from the beginning of the 3rd century AD until the middle of the 3rd century AD. The goddess is depicted seminude, having the inferior part of her body draped; with the right hand is making the libation gesture and with the left hand is masking her breasts. Due the poses and gestures, the statue copies the Venus Capitolina type, namely a variant of the late 2nd century AD statue called Venus of Siracusa. As functionality, the statue belongs to the private area of the cult; probably it was used as an ex-voto for love affairs, a good example that the unofficial part of the cult was more developed than the official one, Venus being closer to the believers in that way.
