Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of the archaeological excavations performed during last ten years at Sărata Monteoru (Buzău County), in the place called “Poiana Scorușului”. An important cult site made of some structures, dated during Monteoru IC4-IC1 stages was discovered here. Three pits with typical pottery for M IC41 stage are the oldest structures. They are followed by Structure B, consisting in an oval platform made of river stones, surrounded by burnt clay covered with ash and charcoal on the south-eastern and north-western edges. A fireplace was found approximately in the centre of the structure. The western edge of Structure B was built in steps, on which other small cult structures, made of stone clusters were discovered. This structure was dated in M IC43 stage. The sacred enclosure consists of a rampart made of brown soil with few archaeological remains; the eastern front side of the wall is sloped, covered with stones representing the reinforcement, the core of the wall. The stones, arranged in several rows, were carved, even facetted in order to be better built. The wall was observed on about 10 m length in the south-eastern end of the Structure B. Some parts of the rampart were disturbed during the Bronze Age and destroyed by pits containing a large amount of charcoal. Based on the pottery, the pits could be dated during the M IC1 stage, when the sacred enclosure no longer played a functional role in the cult site from Poiana Scorușului.
