Summary/Abstract: In the paper, the problems of application of PLS-PM/SEM models in explanation and prediction of economic phenomena are outlined. The basic differences between two approaches are explicated with respect to the indicators formation, estimation methods and goodness of fit measures. Special attention is paid to predictive aspect of PLS-PM model that enables to obtaining the higher precision of estimates and higher validity of predicted phenomena.
