Summary/Abstract: The international career of Venus in Furs – the central image of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’ s1870 novel of the same name – in literary and popular culture is considered in the article (1) atthe level of a freely wandering globalized icon, (2) in regard to its relationship with the cultureof Galicia, and (3) by reference to the resort as a heterotopic space of “conventional deviance.”
