Summary/Abstract: Bektashi anecdotes that the products of Bektashi tradition can be used as teaching materials in the education of values. In this study, it was examined whether teacher candidates can detect the values emphasized in the Bektashi anecdotes. In this way, it was aimed to evaluate the competence of teacher candidates. The study was conducted with 160 students studying in Turkish language teaching and guidance and psychological counseling departments of Karadeniz Technical University. Descriptive and casual comparative methods were used and the data were with the form developed by researches. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics techniques and independent t test. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the teacher candidates were inadequate to detect the values emphasized in Bektashi anecdotes. It was evaluated that it would be beneficial to include activities on values education in teacher education programs.
