THE PHENOMENON OF SPIRITUAL STRABISMUS IN MYSTICAL POETRY OF JALAL AL-DIN RUMI

Summary/Abstract: In the article, the author analyses the phenomenon called spiritual strabismus concerning esotericism from the perspective of Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi’s mystical poetry. According to the author, spiritual strabismus is from the spiritual world projected to the historical scene in the tragic narrative about two brothers, Kabil and Habil. Since then, spiritual strabismus has been present among Adam’s descendants. By the analysis of how spiritual strabismus is formed, the author wants to show that it is acquired category of the human spirit that makes his spiritual vision blind, which prevents human to be able to fully understand God’s uniqueness. Rumi offers the way out of this anomaly if we are spiritually ready.
