Summary/Abstract: Air transport market is the fastest growing segment of transport. Expectations of air passengers form new challenges for air carriers which they are trying to implement. One of the factors influencing the development of this market is competition. It may be analyzed at various levels in relation to specific ways of influencing the market. Always the effect is a more attractive offer for the customer – the passenger of air transport. Therefore, air carriers should conduct research on issues of competition in the market for air transport services.The main aim of this article is to analyze the competitive processes in the low-cost air transport market. The most important determinants of the choice of Ryanair and Wizz Air are discussed as well as the directions for the development of low-cost carriers in Poland are determined.
