Summary/Abstract: The article analyses enterprises development process with particular pressure put on innovation as the key quality factor. Innovation activity, as a complex and long-running process, is conditional in this context upon many factors which affect enterprise in a very various extent. For this reason the uppers and barriers to innovation and development of enterprises in Poland were analysed with regard to place and source of their coming to existence. The most important data for the subject of article on innovation activity for years 2006–2011 were analysed.
