On Degrees of Androcentrism in Post-Patriarchal Languages

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the concept of androcentrism, its socio-cultural origins, linguistic reflections and the understanding of androcentrism in feminist and traditional linguistics. The object of the analysis is based here on the thesis of Russian scientists about the different degree of androcentrism in post-patriarchal languages. The material of various language subsystems of the Russian, Ukrainian and Czech languages substantiats the incorrectness of the hypothesis concerning the degree of androcentrism in language due to the lack of methodological basis of such research as well as the difficulty of the objective conclusions about the higher or lower degree of androcentrism in one language in comparison with the others.
