Summary/Abstract: The article consists of three parts: 1. Definition of the canon and outline of a discussion about the canon (“no more canons”, “sense and nonsense of canon”, “in search for canon”), 2. Teaching of Russian literature of the 10th-18th centuries in the Institute of Russian Studies on University of Warsaw (programme of the studies, triad “knowledge – skills – social competences”, canon of texts for the society and canon of texts for the students), 3. Russian literature of the 10th-18th centuries (selection criteria, suggestions).
