Summary/Abstract: The article tackles the problem of Slavic literature’s place in the academic education system of the Russian empire and Soviet Russia (1907-1931). The article discusses the changes in the curriculum of the Russian universities during the turning point in the Russian history, the reasons (ideological, methodological and systemic) for curricular reform and the direction in which arts were moving (including research on the history of Slavonic literature and Slavonic philology) under the rule of the Bolsheviks.
