Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic Integrations

Summary/Abstract: The objective of this research paper is to highlight reasons of Bosnia and Herzegovina’sslow progress on its Euro-Atlantic path, in order to propose a final solution. The importance of thisissue is relevant particularly now, because on the one hand, Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted itsofficial application to join the European Union in February 2016, and on the other hand, it has beenblocked since April 2010 on its NATO integration path due to the Dayton Peace AgreementConstitution’s paradoxes and historical disagreements. Many authors have previously written aboutBosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic Integrations but not many of them published academicworks after the Bosnian formal application for the European Union membership, which represents animportant step for this post-war country. The main approach used is analytical; which includesacademic research and understanding of Bosnian contemporary history as a root of current political,economic and social crisis. Finally, the result is that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s progress is notsatisfactory and moreover, the only solution for the future of Euro-Atlantic Integrations is a reform ofits current Constitution, but equally a change of the international community’s attitude towardsBosnia and Herzegovina. This paper aims to contribute to further academic research in the field ofinternational relations regarding future integration of the Western Balkans in the Euro-Atlantic bloc.
