Summary/Abstract: Analysis of the components of change (ang. Shift-share analysis) is a common technique for the analysis of regional economies. The weakness of the classical shift share analysis is that it does not take into account the relationships between competitiveness and the effect of structural changes. In 1972 Esteban - Marquillas proposed a modification of the classical equation of shift-share, introducing the homotetic category in studied phenomenon. It allowed for the consideration of the effect of competitiveness and the links between components. This modification allowed for cleaning the effect of changes in position of competitiveness of the local impact of any structural changes. The aim of this article is to analyze the components of change and the possibility of its use for the diagnosis of the productive potential of agriculture in the region, and in particular the analysis allowed to identify objects which are specialised and the nature of the analyzed phenomenon.
