Summary/Abstract: Historical Russian studies are an indispensable scholarly discipline focused on the history of the Russian territory. In the Czech environment, it has an interesting tradition tracing back to the roots of professional historiography and Slavonic studies of the 19th century. However, it has long focused on the political side of the issue, and spiritual, economic and social aspects as well as other usual historic topics such as past of the everyday life, microhistory or the woman question have not been studied. The newly established Research Centre for the History of Eastern Europe therefore aims to remedy this shortcoming and to promote in particular historical Russian studies which will explain the Russian history in a broader context. Its objective is interdisciplinary research and use of modern methodological stimuli for the study of issues of microhistory and everyday life.
