Summary/Abstract: Close relationships have always been an important sphere of human life on the top of universal values. Their relevance is determined by the influence on individual and group emotional well-being, psychological comfort, satisfaction of basic needs in attachment and intimacy, role in life events (betrayal, loss of love, conflicts, cheating, new relationships, etc.). It is not at random that much attention is being paid to stress, though mainly by foreign researchers of close relationships. Stress plays a significant role in understanding the quality and stability of close relationships, which are characterized by the high level of intimacy, sexual appeal, and different kinds of partners’ commitment. The modern state of stress-coping research on close relationships (partnership, marriage) is discussed in the paper. Stresses caused by close relationships and relations-oriented coping are analyzed in confirmation of the hypotheses about their specifics. The results of the empirical study on this kind of stress coping are presented.
