SPOUSE SUPPORT AFTER DIVORCE IN MACEDONIA AND IN SOME EU COUNTRIES

Summary/Abstract: This paper looks into the perspectives and the need for wider unification of the provisions family law, in the current context where the legislation is not sufficiently harmonized even in the European Union. The author especially draws attention to the character of the spouse support after the divorce, the relationship between the divorce and the support, comparing the national legislation in some EU countries with the Family law in the Republic of Macedonia. Through analysis of the positive rights and practical implication of the provisions for spouse support, system of common principles has been established, incorporating the common characteristics; such system serves as a skeleton on which the other issues related to spouse support can be analyzed, positioning the support as the central and unique concept for all.
