Evaluation of innovation in the Polish economy as compared to other European Union countries

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to assess the innovativeness of the Polish economy as compared to other EU countries. The scope of the research includes spatio-temporal analysis of the values of the Synthetic Innovation Index determined by the European Commission. The spatial range includes the 28 EU Member States, and the time range of the research is 2007–2014. This paper also examines the level of innovation of the economy using parametric and graphic description and measurement dynamics. The authors also conducted a ranking and classification of the EU countries according to the level of innovation in the countries’ economy.
