Summary/Abstract: Based on data from the Regional Assay Offices, which examine the content of bullion in the sold jewelry, and the Central Statistical Office which manages among others the collection of data from SAD (Single Administrative Document) documents, we calculated the hallmarking coefficient. Thanks to the calculated hallmarking coefficient we estimated the amount of jewelry made in Poland. Comparing the production in the country and imported amount, we estimated the value of the Polish jewelry market at about 5.7 billion zloty per annum. Next, taking into account the value of the Polish jewelry market and GDP per capita and the average monthly gross income and historical retail price of gold and silver jewelry, we calculated the flexibility of the demand which was more dependent on the change of the income value, to be more precise its purchasing power per 1 g of jewelry.
