Summary/Abstract: Environmentalism proposes moving away from anthropocentrism, which for centuries had most of Western political thought. Instead proposes idea of ecocentrism. Reality is seen as a whole (holism). Environmentalism is divided into different streams and doctrines. It has the ease of connecting with the assumptions of other ideologies: anarchism, socialism, liberalism and feminism. Among the first green parties was West German Grunen and French Les Verts. The four pillars of green politics are: ecological responsibility, social justice, grassroots democracy and non-violence.
