Summary/Abstract: The character of the servant Pomet from the Marin Držić᾿s comedy Dundo Maroje is considered by the majority of literary scholars one of the most important and well written of all Držić᾿s characters. Peculiarity of this character invoked various interpretations and analysis, some of them being sometimes contradictory within themselves. This paper tries to identify and to specify neglected general generic conventions evident in the representation of Pomet and also the conventional features of his character concerning the heritage inherited from the antique comediography, especially from the viewpoint of the features of the Plautine Theater. With that in mind the present analytical observations are questioned (the meaning of the term virtus, the philosophy of akomodavanje-adaptability and the Machiavellian ideas). Finally, what is revealed is the notion that Pomet in all of his features fits completely into inherited model of the grandiose Plautine servus callidus (or in the tradition of the early modern European comediography character of the intriguing or crafty servant) and is especially dramaturgically linked with the character of the slave Pseudolus.
