The perspectives concerning the Polish development of insurance title based on the American experience

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to examine the prospects and the need of implementing the title insurance to offer of the insurance companies operating in Poland. The research was carried out taking into account the specific nature of this insurance product, the conditions of the legal system in Poland relevant to insurance market participants, as well as the experience of the US market from which the title insurance derives. Initially, the author presents the origins of the title insurance, its characteristics, as well as functioning of the US title insurance industry, which later is used as a reference point in the analysis of the offer of insurance companies active on Polish market. The article ends with a reflection on the possibilities of the development of title insurance in Poland and the potential usefulness of the product from the perspective of participants of the real estate market.
