Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the women’s magazines occupying an intermediate position between large-scale ladies publications and highly-specialized feminist titles. This self restraint and self-directedness, marginalized position occupied by women publications corresponded really well to the idea of silent and obscure woman. Every violation of usual stereotypes of femininity was met with overzealous criticism on the male part of society.
