Summary/Abstract: The article explores foreign affixes participating in the formation of Turkic words describing a person. The analysis is carried out using the words of the Tatar language in comparison with other Turkic languages. Seven affixes are revealed, including three affixes previously considered as non-encodeable: -gai (-гай), -bæt (-бәт), and -mal (-мал). It is found that six affixes are word-forming in the source language, and only one formant -bæt (-бәт) acts as an independent lexeme. This research shows that foreign affixes play an insignificant role in the formation of words describing a person. The only relatively productive affix in this case is -gai (-гай), which has a genetic relation to the Mongolian language.
