Summary/Abstract: Based on epigraphic materials, the paper studies the military system of Athens in the late 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. The author analyzes the state of infantry and cavalry and pays attention to the way of using soldiers for protection of the country and foreign campaigns. The command system and the features of the generals’ activities are considered. The decrease in the military activity of Athens is noted.
