New Stage of Economic Transition in Post-Socialist Countries

Summary/Abstract: The paper tries to diagnose and examine the problems and difficulties of economic transition in postsocialist countries. In the introduction two basic concepts of transition (i.e., the shock therapy and the gradualist approach), which influenced the first scenarios of the economic reform in the CSFR, are characterized. In the next part the results of the first stage of transition, which lagged well behind the original expectations, are reviewed. In the final part the author analyzes specific features of the new stage of the economic transition in postsocialist countries which should be the stage of real transition of the post-socialist economies.
