Summary/Abstract: The WW II in Yugoslavia left a disastrous situation in all social aspects and culture was not an exception. During the war, the Museum in Banja Luka faced many problems, the biggest one being preservation of museum artefacts from devastation. Lack of professional staff, negligence and unprofessional work of Museum director Olga Meixner as well as lack of financial support, brought the Museum on the verge of disaster. Such situation has greatly improved with engagement of experienced museum professionals dr Ivan Bach and Vejsil Ćurčić. They arranged for the new inventory of the complete collection and library items to be taken. The archive and photo collection was reorganized and the Museum planned for the future activities. However, the plans for the Museum development have never been fully implemented due to war circumstances. Since he first came to the Museum in October 1941, friar Ilovača has used his best work and knowledge to help the institution grow, but the war prevented him from achieving more success in his endeavours. Even so, he never gave up on putting his best effort in protecting the interest of the institution he worked in, as a curator and its director.
