Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a study examining the attitudes towards the live transmission of a catholic Mass celebration that is broadcast by the Polish Radio every Sunday. The respondents’ attitudes towards this transmission seem to be likely toreflect their overall attitude towards the presence of the sacred in the public space. The attitude was hypothesised not to be very positive and to be the more unfavourable, the more one considers oneself to be a citizen of the European Union and a tolerant person as well as the more favourable one’s attitude towards love parades and feminists’ manifestations is. What gave rise to those hypotheses was the fact that the Polish students of today are young people who have been citizens of the European Union for at least half their lives and it is the western EU countries where the modern secularism tendencies originated which have for years infiltrated Poland, too. The tendencies are particularly observable where both removing any traces of the sacred from the public space and promoting the initiatives of the counter‑Christianmilieus (e.g. the LGBTQ or the contemporary feminists) are concerned. Contrary to the expectations, the results demonstrated, however, that the respondents hold hardly any personal feeling of being EU citizens, that their attitude towards the Mass transmitted on the public radio is quite favourable, whereas their attitude towards the love parades or the contemporary feminists’ manifestations is not particularly positive.
