Summary/Abstract: On the example of the court of ostrogothic kings, first of all Theodoric the Great, the article considers the question of traditions of the Roman education in barbarous society in times of medieval civilization formation. Ostrogothic queens and princesses, practically all involved in the Roman system of knowledge act as the main object of study. It is proved that during education and training of representatives of a ruling dynasty the same qualities and the same knowledge which formed the basis of the late Roman pedagogical system were translated to them
